This assignment is to write a review paper for a topic within Biological Oceanog

This assignment is to write a review paper for a topic within Biological Oceanography.  It should be 7 pages, single space, including up to three optional displays (figures or tables – welcome but not required).  Any displays can come from cited literature, you do not have to create new figures, but you are welcome to if desired.  References are required and listed after the main text of the review.  You are required to include a minimum of 10 citations, more are welcome.
Suggested format of the paper is:
Intro – what is the topic and why is it important to biological oceanography.  ~1 page
Review of work to date – what has been discovered thus far in this field?  review the published literature and highlight if any paper seems particularly important (was cited many times). 4-5 pages
Current open questions – what exciting questions remain to be answered in this field?  there are likely many, you can focus on the biggest ones and the ones that could potentially be addressed in the next 5 years or so.  these are sometimes highlighted in reviews of a topic or at the end of research articles (typically listing what may come next for that particular topic).
