Hello and welcome to sun com mobile’s training and education, RSM edition! Today we will be going over what you can expect now that you have been hired to be a RSM.
Congratulations on stepping into your new leadership role as a Retail Store Manager, or RSM! Whether you’ve previously managed a different team or worked in one of our stores as an RSC, there are some unique responsibilities that come with being a RSM. Let’s dive into your official job description and highlight key aspects of your new role.
Your official job description has 4 categories: Customer experience and sales, employee management and development, merchandising, and compliance. Let’s break these categories down into specific tasks and responsibilities.
First, within the Customer Experience and Sales category, your mission is to create exceptional customer experiences while driving sales. As the face of your Wireless store, you will engage with customers and assist them in making informed phone, plan, and accessory choices, while ensuring seamless transactions.
Remember to utilize and enforce the “going the extra smile” strategy with customers. This approach not only optimizes sales but also strengthens customer relationships. Additionally, familiarize yourself with the incentive plan—both for your own benefit and to motivate your team to excel. By doing so, you contribute to the success of each other and the store.
Next, Employee Management and Development. As an RSM, you will lead by example, inspiring and engaging employees to succeed. Your role involves developing team members for growth and promotion by delegating responsibilities and ensuring completion.
You will ensure employee engagement through appropriate actions such as recognition and appreciation, clear communication and training and development with your reps. You will also create and execute individual growth plans for reps and observe and coach employees on sales techniques and customer service.
Adhering to Handbook policies and procedures like dress code, workplace ethic, misconduct, and safety are all major parts of your job and displaying leadership to your reps.
Next, for product launches it is encouraged that you stay ahead of the curve! When new products hit the shelves, you’ll be the first to introduce them to customers. Excitement and knowledge are both important parts of product launches. A pro tip is to watch the weekly hoopla calls and print out all promotional documents in order to always be prepared for customers who may have questions.
Merchandising is a way of showing off your store in the best way possible. Arrange displays, optimize product placement, and create an inviting atmosphere. Visual appeal matters! Keep up with through supply chain updates and listen for the pro tips we have in store when it comes to demo device placement.
Lastly, Compliance includes several critical tasks. You’ll diligently review and ensure operational compliance, respond promptly to inquiries and system errors, and remain flexible in executing various assignments from management. Your dedication directly impacts our team’s effectiveness and efficiency!
