Stock Tracker Project: Each student will track 4 stocks over the course of the semester. Your portfolio should consist of approximately $100,000. Please include initial purchase price as of close of business January 19(STOCK PROJECT DOC). At the end of the semester you will take the closing price (April 19)(IMAGES INCLUDED) and calculate your net gain/loss. You will then write up a summary report (2-3 pages) including the following information:
1) Why you chose the stocks
2) What caused the variation in the prices through the semester (i.e. were there economic events that caused the rise and fall in the price and if so what were they, the answer doesn’t have to be correct just shows that you’ve used critical thinking to arrive at the conclusion)
3) Then you will calculate both the expected rate of return on the portfolio and the Beta of your portfolio based on the knowledge you have gained through your studies.
