Final Exam (on-line)* Signature Assignment – 400 points
Choose Poe (either or both stories) or Vonnegut 
The Exam is due on Friday May 10th by Midnight 
For the final examination, you will re-read and analyze a story I’ll select from the all of the authors we have covered this term. The author will be revealed on Monday Morning by 8 A.M EST. Your job is to compose an analysis of the story. The analysis must be detailed, insightful, and complex, focusing on the manner in which the writer used standard elements of fiction—choices such as punctuation, tense, point of view, the construction and shape of plot or conflict, word choices, tone, methods of characterization, etc.—and explain how those choices contributed to the production of this particular story, about these particular characters in this particular setting. Personal reactions (like/dislike/enjoy/etc.) and summary (you may use examples from the story to back up your points- just do not include entire plot or whole scene summaries) are not necessary and should not be included. The work should showcase the best work you’re capable of regarding the thoughtful consideration of a text and its writer.
Mechanics: You are welcome to use the following:
-The text, annotated as you desire.
-Outside Sources about the Author and or Story
-Notes from discussions or chats.
The Exam is due on Friday May 10th by Midnight 
Length: For most responses, 2-3 types double spaced pages should be sufficient. Simply: analyze fully and thoughtfully, regardless of page length.
